Summer is here and revolution is in the air! Not least in Greece where a pre-revolutionary situation has developed. Since we first announced the Marxist Summer School: Prospects for the World Revolution, the mass movement of the peoples of the Arab world that has so far toppled two dictators, has crossed the Mediterranean sea and is fertilising European soil. This has not only had an effect on the Greek workers and youth, but can also be seen in the mass protest movement in Spain. Therefore it is is not an exaggeration to say the question of the World revolution is firmly on the agenda. Never has there been a more relevant time to discuss the relevance of the ideas of Marxism.

On the weekend of 17-19th of June a Marxist Summer School is being held at the University of London Union (ULU), jointly hosted by Socialist Appeal and the ULU Marxist society. In preparation for this weekend we are publishing a recommended reading list for each session so that those visiting, if they so wish, can read-up before hand on the various sessions on offer. This should help in deciding which session you are interested in attending, and generally contribute towards enriching what should prove to be an excellent weekend of political discussion.

Thousands of activists, trade unionists, students and the unemployed will descend on London tomorrow, March 26th, to join the national Trades Union Congress-backed protest against the cuts.

On March 3rd the University of London Union Marxists will play host to a very special meeting on the revolutionary events unfolding in the Arab world. Speakers include: Houzan Mahmoud, the representative of the Organisations of Women's Freedom in Iraq and a member of the Worker-Communist Party of Iraq; Serge Goulart, co-ordinator of the Occupied Factory movement in Brazil; and Alan Woods, secretary of the International Marxist Tendency.
